This LA-inspired Steak Torta is bold, bright, and bursting with flavor. Juicy marinated steak is grilled and layered with creamy refried beans, avocado slices, Smash Kitchen Spicy Mayonnaise, and tangy tomatillo salsa. Ingredients
- 1/4 white onion, diced
- Small handful cilantro stems
- 1 garlic clove
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 2 tbsp orange juice
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 1/2 lb sirloin flap steak (or skirt steak)
- 2 King’s Hawaiian Slider Buns
- 1/2 ripe avocado, sliced
- 1/2 cup refried beans, warmed
- 2 tbsp Smash Kitchen Spicy Mayonnaise
- Queso fresco
- 1 small tomato, sliced
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- Store-bought salsa verde
Instructions
- Blend onion, garlic, cilantro stems, spices, sauces, and juices into a marinade.
- Marinate steak for at least 4 hours or overnight in the fridge.
- Warm beans, toast the rolls, slice tomato and avocado, and shred lettuce.
- Cook steak on a grill or hot pan until desired doneness. Let it rest for 10 minutes, then slice.
- Spread Smash Kitchen Spicy Mayonnaise on the buns.
- Layer refried beans, steak, avocado, tomato (top with a pinch of salt), cheese, lettuce, and salsa.
- Slice the sandwiches in half and serve.
