The Smash Kitchen Hoagie

Call it a sub, call it a hoagie, call it a hero. This sandwich goes by many names. A beloved Italian-American staple from the Northeast, the signature flavor is in the drizzle of olive oil and vinegar. Top with spicy mayo for the perfect kick.

Ingredients
  • 1 bread loaf
  • Smash Kitchen Organic Yellow Mustard
  • Smash Kitchen Organic Spicy Mayonnaise
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 6-8 slices prosciutto 
  • 4-6 slices of salami
  • 4-6 slices provolone cheese
  • Sliced red onion
  • 2 tbsp champagne or red wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp crushed oregano 
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
  1. Slice the bread loaf in half. Tear out some of the inside of the bread. 
  2. Spread a layer of Spicy Organic Mayonnaise on one side of the bread and Smash Kitchen Organic Yellow Mustard on the other. Adjust the amounts based on your taste preferences.
  3. Start by layering the pastrami and salami on the bottom of the roll. Add a slice or two of provolone cheese on top of the meat. Then, add a few slices of tomato, red onion, and a handful of lettuce. 
  4. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and oregano over the veggies, then a light drizzle of vinegar and olive oil. 
  5. Close the hoagie, press it down lightly, and cut it into halves or thirds for easy eating. Serve immediately!
