Spiral Hot Dogs

When it comes to Fourth of July prep, it's all about the sauce. As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, there's no better canvas for great sauce than a classic hot dog. This year, try switching things up by spiral-cutting your hot dogs. The extra surface area helps every bite catch more sauce while keeping your favorite toppings in place, creating the perfect bite from start to finish. It's a simple trick that's sure to become a backyard BBQ staple.

Ingredients
  • 6 hot dogs
  • 6 hot dog buns
  • Smash Kitchen condiments of choice
  • 2 grilled bell peppers, diced
  • 1 raw onion, diced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • Handful of cilantro, chopped
  • Salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Insert a skewer through the center of each hot dog.
  2. Starting at one end, carefully make a diagonal cut while slowly rotating the hot dog to create a spiral pattern. Remove the skewer.
  3. Grill the hot dogs until heated through and lightly charred. The spiral cuts will crisp up and create extra pockets for sauce and toppings.
  4. Place each hot dog in a bun and top with Smash Kitchen condiments, and a mixture of the grilled bell pepper topping.
